Chief Executive of Hong Kong Monetary Authority Mr Eddie Yue Speaks at the HKAB Distinguished Speaker Luncheon



(1 November 2019) The Hong Kong Association of Banks (HKAB) was honoured to have Mr Eddie Yue, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), as the keynote speaker at the Distinguished Speaker Luncheon on 1 November 2019.

At the event, Mr Yue addressed an audience of over 300. He said, "The macro environment that the banking sector faces in the next few years will be challenging, and we must be prepared to stand up to changing circumstances. The HKMA's work in maintaining monetary and financial stability, developing the financial services platform, and capitalising on technological advancement will be vital to the banking sector and the economy of Hong Kong. I look forward to working in partnership with the banking industry to achieve our common goals."

HKAB Chairperson Ms Mary Huen said, "We are pleased to have Eddie as our Distinguished Speaker today, who has shared a lot of invaluable insights with our members from the banking industry. Having been with the HKMA for 26 years, Eddie has made tremendous contributions to the development of Hong Kong as an international financial centre throughout the years. The HKAB will continue to work closely with the HKMA under Eddie's leadership to maintain and further strengthen the stability of the banking system in Hong Kong amidst the global and local challenges."
