(19 January 2021) As the epidemic situation continues to evolve, The Hong Kong Association of Banks (HKAB) encourages members of the public to use electronic laisee during the coming Lunar New Year. At the same time, to cope with the seasonal demand for notes while balancing public health concerns, banks will stay vigilant with their respective notes exchange arrangements. HKAB spokesperson said, "Financial technology has advanced by leaps and bounds in Hong Kong. Digital payment and transfer has become part of our daily routines. We encourage the public to use electronic laisee, which is environmental-friendly and convenient. For those who need to exchange notes for laisee use, please look out for the announcement by their respective banks. Banks will try to control the traffic to avoid crowds and maintain proper social distancing at branches."
